Gila monsters, palm trees, swinging from vines, wild plantains and orchids...
We are in Puerto Rico for Spring Break with Dad and Linda! Everything has been amazing and we still have 4 days to go. We have spent 3 days at the fantastic pool and lazy river at the condo. Today, we took a day trip the the El Yunque rainforest. Wow. While we didn't get to see many animals, we saw incredible plants and flowers. It was really something. We topped it off with the best meal we've had in a long time at this great local place on Luquillo Beach. We've discovered a new favorite food - fried plantains! Here are some of our favorite pictures - be on the lookout for Jonathan swinging from vines in the rainforest and a dog who caught a gila monster (actually the second dog we saw with one!)...Hope you enjoy!

Way out West...
Well, after traveling non-stop for the last month, it is so good to be home. I am finally able to sit down and share some of the highlights of the last few months. We really enjoy the winter months in Las Cruces. We wrapped up a great fall semester with RUF and a life filled with school programs, soccer games, and piano recitals. We loved getting to see family in Florida for Thanksgiving and Dallas for Christmas. The highlight for Jonathan were the Tony Romo jersey, which he wore for days until Mommy forced him to take it off, his first pellet gun, and the nerf blaster all the boys got which resulted in a Christmas day foam massacre. Then, we were off to a snow filled retreat in Steamboat, Colorado. We managed to be there when they got a record setting 29 inches of snow in 24 hours! A lot of snow even for a town accustomed to snow! After being home for a few days, Heather went to Mississippi to visit a great friend and then on to Atlanta for the RUF wives retreat. The trip was such a great blessing! So those are the high points and I am leaving out a lot, but what can I say, there are already almost 100 pictures as it is. We hope you enjoy them!

We did it- we met the Mavericks!
I guess we are entering the blogisphere, so here goes! I managed to find out where the Mavericks were staying in Las Cruces for Tuesday's pre-season game, the first NBA game ever played in the state of New Mexico. After being thrown out of the hotel, a nice security guard suggested that we return around 8pm. We waited ouside for hours as the players returned a few at a time from dinner near the hotel. Jonathan got to meet almost the entire team! Except...for Dirk. We waited, and waited, and waited some more! Incidentally, no one else, not a single fan or member of the media was at the hotel besides us! After a couple of hours of waiting and meeting the occasional player, a couple of new Mavericks sent Dirk a message that he had a little fan waiting outside. Within minutes, there he was, just for Jonathan! You should have seen Jonathan! He was so excited! Dirk signed all of our jerseys, hats, and Jonathan's bunny (named Dirk). Then, Dirk picked him up for a picture! I can't believe Jonathan ever fell asleep once we got home - he said it was a dream come true and the best day of his life!
